Since she joined the Oregon Wild team in fall 2011, Marielle Cowdin has been thrilled to contribute to the protection Oregon’s wild places and wildlife and has a personal mission to explore all the beautiful wildlands Oregon has to offer. In homage to the Captain Planet of her childhood, her love of the wilderness, outdoor recreation, craft brews, and art & design combine forces in her role as the Outreach & Marketing Coordinator, in which she works to create meaningful visual, experiential, and personal connections between Oregonians and the wild. She does this through her management of the Oregon Brewshed® Alliance initiative,  Oregon Wild's Outdoor Program, and publications, print materials, and outreach events.

Before moving to the Northwest, Marielle worked to protect the wilderness of the Northeast with the Appalachian Mountain Club and spent a year working and traveling around all corners of Australia. Between her time down under, backpacking through New England, and a lifetime of Rocky Mountain adventures from growing up in Colorado, environmental conservation and outdoor exploration have always been at the forefront of her passions. As such, she works hard to protect and care for our natural world and strives to further her environmental education whenever and wherever possible.

Outside of work she has many adventures in the great outdoors with her dog, Tasman. Whenever possible, Marielle goes hiking, camping, backpacking, trail running, and works to hone her skills in large format photography,  dance, craft beer appreciation (drink locally, think globally), and playing the cello.
