About this Hike

This trail allows for relatively quick access to Wildcat Basin, and it is a link to other trails in the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness. Near the trailhead is a six-horse tie-stall and open meadows.

Getting There

1. Take Highway 26 south of John Day for 9.7 miles, then turn left on Road 65 for 8.9 paved miles.

2. Take another left onto Road 1520 for 4 miles on a gravel road until you reach Canyon Meadow Campground, and continue on for 3 rough miles until reaching the trailhead.
