After taking in the wilderness views from Sherrard Point, walk mostly downhill from the top of Larch Mountain to see subalpine wildflowers and descend along a mountain meadow.

Angel's Rest to Wahkenna Falls Wildflower Hike

Natural History Walk in the Badlands with ONDA

Celebrate Wilderness Week with our friends at the Oregon Natural Desert Association (ONDA) and discover some natural history in the Badlands Wilderness.

Located just 15 miles east of Bend, off Highway 20, the Badlands is a 30,000 acre Wilderness Area containing fascinating lava flows and ancient junipers. This area was named for its harsh terrain and fantastic rock formations. Within this landscape, one can find incredible displays of desert wildflowers, dry river canyons, castle-like rock formations, and Native American pictographs.


Tamanawas Falls Family Hike

Great Old Broads for Wilderness and Oregon Wild are partnering up to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Wilderness Act. Join us for a family-oriented, educational hike on the proposed Wilderness area on the east side of Mt. Hood.

Devil's Staircase Wilderness area, Dark Grove Hike

Not for the faint of heart or weak of legs – this hike is a rugged, off-trail experience, though it will NOT go to the Devil’s Staircase waterfall itself.

Difficulty: Difficult
Distance: 4 miles (but feels more like 6) 
Elevation Gain: 1,000 feet, down to Carbon and Wassen Creeks and then back up, all through steep rugged terrain
