Clackamas Wild & Scenic River Hike

Old growth, fire ecology, new Wilderness, and a Wild & Scenic River  -- what could be better?

Difficulty: Moderate
Distance: 8 miles
Elevation Gain: 0-600 feet
Leader: Jonathan Jelen
Location: Mount Hood National Forest (carpools depart from Portland)

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act that provides protections for rivers that have ecological, cultural, and recreational value. Only 2% of Oregon's rivers have this designation and well be exploring one of the few in Mt. Hood National Forest: the Clackamas River. Join us for this out-and-back hike that follows the river through old-growth Doug Firs, fungi, and various views.

Help Oregon Wild continue to provide high-quality, guided hikes into Oregon's spectacular wildlands by making a small donation. Your support helps offset the costs of our hikes program, and ensures we can all continue to explore and enjoy Oregon's natural heritage. Suggested donation of $5 (Oregon Wild members) and $10 (non-members).

If you are unsure if your Oregon Wild membership is current, please call 503.283.6343 x 205. To join, please click here.

P.S. You might notice that our hike signup form has changed to a Google form - we're switching to a new system this summer and appreciate your patience as we transition!
