Toketee Falls

IMG_0981.JPG

Difficulty: Easy in that it's short, but there are a number of stairs to climb making it a short aerobic climb
Distance: 1 mile round trip
Elevation gain: ~100 feet
Seasons: May-October

Description

This 1-mile round trip hike winds through old-growth forest consisting Douglas-fir, western red-cedar, big-leaf maple and Pacific yew and offers scenic glimpses of the North Umpqua River. With steps and benches along the way, it’s a perfect trial for hikers of all levels. The trail leads to a lookout point with a breath-talking view of a two-tiered waterfall with water plummeting nearly 80 feet. This trail passes through the edge of an unprotected pristine area that is part of the Crater Lake Wilderness proposal. It is one of many areas in the state that deserves Wilderness protection.

Directions

From Roseberg, head east on highway 138. About 60 miles down the road there will be a sign for Toketee Lake/Toketee Campground. At the sign, turn left onto Toketee- Rigdon Rd. Stay left at the fork. The Toketee Falls trailhead parking area will be on the left hand side of the road.
