Thank Senator Golden for standing up for our forests!
As you know, the U.S. Forest Service is currently holding a public comment period for its proposed Nationwide Old Growth Amendment (NOGA). The NOGA is a proposal to amend nearly all 128 forest land management plans to provide consistent direction to conserve old-growth forests — the first time the agency has ever undertaken a policy like this across the country.
Senator Jeff Golden from Oregon is championing stronger protections for mature and old-growth forests and has organized other state legislators from across the country to join him. In an official letter for the Forest Service, Senator Golden and other legislators calls on the agency to significantly strengthen the final amendment so that it ensures durable protections for our remaining old-growth.
Given the outstanding role mature and old-growth trees and forests in national forests play in fighting the climate and biodiversity crises, it is vital that America establish meaningful safeguards for their conservation.
Please join us in thanking Senator Golden for his leadership!
