Oppose Trump’s New Public Forests Logging Order
Congress must oppose Trump’s reckless logging order before it causes irreversible harm to our forests, wildlife, and communities. Contact your members of Congress today and demand they oppose and refuse to fund Trump’s attack on our public lands!
The Trump administration has launched its most aggressive attack yet on our public forests—issuing an executive order that directly attacks environmental protections, fast-tracks destructive logging, and hands our national forests over to the logging industry.
This order targets the treasured public lands of the Pacific Northwest, home to some of the oldest and most carbon-rich and ecologically significant forests in the country. It directs federal agencies to eliminate environmental safeguards, push through logging projects with little to no oversight, and undermine protections for endangered species like the northern spotted owl, coho salmon, and marbled murrelet.
It’s also the latest move in Trump’s broader effort to gut public lands protections. After firing thousands of Forest Service employees, park rangers, and public lands scientists, the administration is now making it easier than ever for logging companies to exploit our forests with little accountability.
This is a blatant effort to reward wealthy timber industry donors while ignoring science, public input, and the law.
Opposing these atrocious attacks on our forests will require sustained public opposition, as well as litigation to hold Trump and his cronies accountable to the law, the first step is making our voices heard to Congress.
Congress has the power of the purse and must use it to stop this assault on our forests. Lawmakers can and must deny federal funding for the implementation of this destructive order and ensure that taxpayer dollars are not used to subsidize the reckless dismantling of environmental protections. Contact your members of Congress today and demand they take action to protect our public lands before it’s too late!
