Close to Eugene and accessible year-round, the forests and trails on the lower slopes of Hardesty Mountain offer a great mix of old growth, maturing forest, and previously logged areas managed by the Willamette National Forest. On this hike, we’ll explore a few miles of one of these wonderful trails (exact stretch TBD) and see what’s at stake under proposed changes to the Northwest Forest Plan. With a comment period closing soon, this a great way to connect with the forest before writing your own comment on the proposal.
Carpools will be available from Eugene.
The goal of Oregon Wild’s outdoor program is to connect our supporters to the places we work to protect and conserve. Our guided hikes and outings are led by staff members with experience in our conservation campaigns, knowledge about the natural world, and a passion for Oregon’s wild places and wildlife. Our programs offer an educational experience and a connection to advocacy for the places we visit. We strive to make our outdoor programs inviting and safe for everyone.
