The south end of beautiful Waldo Lake sports beautiful forests, huckleberries, small lakes, and a scenic shelter. The recent Cedar Creek Fire didn’t burn this area, but we’ll be able to see some nearby effects as we complete a loop hike out of the extensive trail system in this area. Three sides of the lake were protected as Wilderness in 1984, and the lake and its surrounding watershed are proposed for additional protections in the River Democracy Act. Help us celebrate the past and future of this magical place on this late summer hike!
Carpools will be available from Eugene.
The goal of Oregon Wild’s outdoor program is to connect our supporters to the places we work to protect and conserve. Our guided hikes and outings are led by staff members with experience in our conservation campaigns, knowledge about the natural world, and a passion for Oregon’s wild places and wildlife. Our programs offer an educational experience and a connection to advocacy for the places we visit. We strive to make our outdoor programs inviting and safe for everyone.
Your hike leader will get you additional information with specifics about a meeting time and location, difficulty level, and any other details about your hike after you register.
