Support wolf recovery in Oregon.
Send a letter to state and federal managers urging them to do better!
- Whereas Oregon’s wolf population is on the path to recovery but still in need of protections to support statewide restoration;
- Whereas only a small percentage of the state’s wolf population lives in Western and Southern Oregon – causing challenges for California’s wolf recovery as they depend on Oregon;
- Whereas human-caused mortality, like poaching, state-sponsored killing, and vehicle collisions remain the biggest impediment to wolves distributing across Oregon;
- Whereas the best available science shows that killing more wolves only leads to more conflict, less tolerance, and increased poaching;
- Whereas Salem policymakers and wildlife managers continue to reject the voices of scientists and instead, double down on decisions that incentivize poor livestock management and exacerbate conflict;
- Whereas efforts are already underway to ask the Fish and Wildlife Commission to allow public hunting and trapping of Oregon’s wolves;
We, the undersigned, urge state and federal leaders, policymakers, and wildlife managers to support statewide wolf recovery by implementing management practices that prioritize non-lethal measures, reduce conflict, build tolerance, and combat poaching.
