Join us for an advocacy workshop to hear from local experts about how you can write effective public comments that highlight the importance of old forests, clean water, and imperiled wildlife habitat.
The Future of Our Forests is on the Line
For 30 years, the Northwest Forest Plan has protected old-growth forests, clean water, and critical wildlife habitat while storing carbon and fighting climate change. Now, the Trump administration and US Forest Service are pursuing a plan that would weaken these protections, opening hundreds of thousands of acres of mature and old-growth forests to logging.
The Forest Service is accepting public comments on these changes through March 17th, and your voice is needed. That’s why we’re teaming up with partner organizations to host a Comment Writing Workshop to help you craft impactful, effective public comments.
📅 Date: March 11
📍 Location: 3639 N Mississippi Ave, Portland OR, 97227
🕕 Time: 5:30-7:30pm
What to Expect:
- A short presentation on the history of the NWFP, what’s at stake, and how this amendment overlaps with other recent forest policy changes (like the Fix Our Forests Act and recent Executive Orders expanding logging).
- Tips on how to write an effective public comment that makes an impact.
- Dedicated time to write and submit your comment with support from experts.
This is our chance to demand stronger protections for our forests. Join us to take action for the forests that protect our climate, wildlife, and communities.
**Please bring a laptop or other device to draft your comments!
