Forests in western Oregon managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) include important wildlife habitat, recreation areas, drinking water sources, and some of our last remaining mature and old-growth forests on public lands. A new proposal by the Trump administration could sacrifice these 2.5 million acres for short-term profit.
The latest in the Trump administration’s unraveling of laws and policies that protect public forests, this proposed revision to BLM’s management plans could eliminate ecological reserves, shrink streamside logging buffers, and return to unsustainable logging levels not seen since the late 1980s. Places we all treasure, like Alsea Falls, Crabtree Valley, and the Rogue River are at stake.
