Stand Up For Oregon’s Public Lands
Join us in telling our members of Congress to pass a public lands package in the lame-duck period that includes:
- Protecting the iconic Wild Rogue, parts of the Mollala watershed, and the Siskiyou region as a part of the Oregon Recreation Enhancement (ORE) Act
- Safeguarding over 3200 miles of streams all across Oregon in the River Democracy Act
- Designating over 1 million acres of Wilderness in the Owyhee Canyonlands as a part of the Malheur Community Empowerment for the Owyhee Act
- Expanding the Smith River National Recreation Area and Wild & Scenic River designations.
Together, these bills would permanently safeguard millions of acres of public lands and waterways in Oregon for the benefit of fish and wildlife, clean water, the climate, outdoor recreation, and future generations.
We also need to make sure bills pushed by anti-environmental interests that would strip protections for public lands are not included in any package. One such example is the Fix Our Forests Act; this inappropriately named bill would stifle citizen voices, removing science from land management decisions, and include a large-scale rollback of the Endangered Species Act (ESA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) on millions of acres of public lands, leaving them open to logging and destruction.
Reach out to your members of Congress today urging them to support historic bills like the ORE Act and River Democracy Act, and to oppose bills that threaten forests and public lands like the Fix Our Forests Act.
