Phenix joined Oregon Wild in 2025 as a Digital Communications Associate. Her career has centered around helping others connect with the outdoors, from her first job as a camp counselor, to her years spent as a park ranger in the Utah desert, to managing Oregon Wild’s social media today.
The move to rural Utah from the bright lights of Vegas opened her eyes to America’s public lands. A last minute decision to join a school rafting trip down the Grand Canyon solidified the hunch, and she switched her major at Southern Utah University to Outdoor Recreation as soon as she got back in cell service.
Since then, she has worked in trail maintenance, habitat restoration, wildlife conservation, and managed the education department at a state park, giving her a wide understanding of the inner workings of public lands. A family move to Oregon moved this desert rat into the forest, and she finds herself falling in love with the old growth as quickly as she did the sandstone cliffs.
In her free time, Phenix can be found outside with her dog and partner, camera in hand, capturing landscapes and wildlife through her lens. When you do find her inside, it’s with a good fantasy book or some knitting.
