Hike Oregon’s Wildest Rivers — and Help Protect Them
We’ve created a free trail guide to help you hike 20 spectacular riverside trails — all along rivers proposed for protection in the River Democracy Act.
Oregon is home to some of the most awe-inspiring rivers in the country — from the roaring Imnaha in the northeast to the shady banks of the Deschutes and Metolius, and the lush, forest-lined creeks cascading off Mount Hood. These waterways sustain ancient forests, shelter wildlife, and offer peaceful trails through wild meadows and rocky canyons.
But not all of our wildest, most iconic rivers are protected — yet.
The River Democracy Act would add more than 3,200 miles of new Wild & Scenic Rivers across Oregon, safeguarding clean drinking water, fish and wildlife habitat, and the outdoor experiences we treasure. Each segment would receive a protective half-mile buffer on either side, helping keep these places wild for generations to come.
And here’s the best part: you can explore them now. Sign up below and you’ll be taken to a download of this exciting adventure guide!
