The Salmon River Trail follows the gorgeous Wild & Scenic Salmon River past giant cedar and Douglas-fir trees. Bordered on one side by the Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness, the ancient giants on the OTHER side of the trail are at risk due to a proposal to repeal the Roadless Rule that currently protects them. On this hike, you’ll learn about the history of the area’s protections, old-growth forest ecology, and what you can do to help permanently protect places like the Salmon River.
The goal of Oregon Wild’s outdoor program is to connect our supporters to the places we work to protect and conserve. Our guided hikes and outings are led by staff members with experience in our conservation campaigns, knowledge about the natural world, and a passion for Oregon’s wild places and wildlife. Our programs offer an educational experience and a connection to advocacy for the places we visit. We strive to make our outdoor programs inviting and safe for everyone.
